Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that often begins with subtle cognitive changes. Early identification is critical to improving long-term outcomes, enabling timely interventions, and facilitating better care coordination. This course is designed to help nurses distinguish early Alzheimer’s disease from normal aging and other cognitive impairments through the identification of hallmark signs, symptom progression, and risk indicators.

Through evidence-based instruction and practical tools, participants will learn how to utilize validated cognitive screening assessments such as the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and the Mini-Cog in clinical settings. Additionally, the course emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, documentation best practices, and the development of appropriate referral plans to support patients and families navigating early-stage Alzheimer’s disease.
