Trauma-Informed Care For Nurses

Trauma affects a significant portion of the patient population and can deeply influence how individuals interact with healthcare providers. This course equips nurses with foundational knowledge of trauma-informed care, including an understanding of how traumatic experiences can alter brain development, emotional regulation, and behavior across the lifespan. Nurses will explore how trauma manifests in clinical settings and learn to recognize signs of trauma through a patient-centered lens. 

Participants will also develop skills in trauma-sensitive communication and care planning to avoid re-traumatization. The course emphasizes the integration of trauma-informed principles - safety, trust, collaboration, empowerment, and cultural humility - into daily nursing practice. By applying these strategies in assessments, interventions, and patient interactions, nurses will foster therapeutic environments that support healing, dignity, and long-term well-being.
